18th World Congress ends
Written 14/03/2008NEW DELHI, WEDNESDAY. The 18th World Congress of the International Physicians for Prevention of War concluded on Tuesday; the newly elected Board met on Wednesday. The Congress had a record attendance of over 600, half of whom were students or young doctors.
MAPW continues to play major role in international body
Written 12/03/2008NEW DELHI: Australia's leading role in IPPNWi, the global organisation campaigning against nuclear and other weapons, was recognised yesterday with the election of MAPW's Tilman Ruff to the IPPNW Board. Dr Ruth Mitchell is also on the board as a representative of the South East Asia and Pacific Region.

Students highlight small arms deaths at Delhi conference
Written 08/03/2008NEW DELHI: There are 500 million small arms in the world today, and they are the weapons of choice in most wars today, Indian student Arhinav Singh told the Medical Students Congress of IPPNWi yesterday. 90% of those killed by these weapons were civilians, and 80% of these were women and children, he said.
Australian students speak at opening of Delhi meeting

Written 04/03/2008Thanks to the many people who have helped create this new website. MAPW members willingly gave up their time to share their views on the style and content they wanted. A dozen student members donated part of their summer break to check and categorise pages from our old website. A generous donation funded some of the costs, along with many hundreds of volunteer hours. (» read more)
