Action against BHP Billiton
In 2008 a mixed group of BHP shareholders, traditional owners and environmentalists came together to highlight the discrepancies between BHP’s promotion of themselves as environmentally and socially responsible, and the reality of the huge impacts from their mines, on the communities and the environment.

In 2008 a mixed group of BHP shareholders, traditional owners and environmentalists came together to highlight the discrepancies between BHP’s promotion of themselves as environmentally and socially responsible, and the reality of the huge impacts from their mines, on the communities and the environment.
In 2009, BHP’s Annual General Meeting in 2009 is in Brisbane on the 26th of November. The location is to be announced. In particular the organisers are very concerned about BHP’s proposal to expand the Olympic Dam Uranium mine in Kokatha country, Roxby Downs, SA. There are a number of other groups involved who have their own gripe with BHP, including Traditional Owners from Colombia, the Philippines, West Papua then the Kokatha and Arabunna in SA, and the Wongi from Yelirrie in WA.
To support this action, join the organisers in a creative, diverse and engaging way at BHP’s Annual General Meeting in November. The action at the moment is propsosed to include include a public meeting, a photo exhibition (http://www.adelaide.foe.org.au/?p=162) and an action outside the meeting with food and bands.
