Robert Tickner is a former Labor parliamentarian, and was Australia’s longest serving Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, from 1990-1996. From 2005-2015 he was Under Secretary for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Federation, and CEO of the Australian Red Cross, where he played a key role in ensuring Red Cross’ commitment to the outlawing of nuclear weapons. His personal commitment to nuclear weapons abolition has been a life-long one, beginning in high school in country NSW. ICANi is honoured to have him as an Ambassador.
