Australia’s Defence: where are we headed
MAPW and the Nautilus Institute (RMIT) are organising a forum discussing the Defence White Paper and the Federal Budget. The discussion will cover issues such as how the Defence White Paper is going to shape Australia’s future relationships with the rest of the world and with our Pacific region? Is our government making a serious contribution to abolishing nuclear weapons? How can community voices be heard?
Speakers:
- Prof Richard Tanter of the Nautilus Institute (the overall framework)
- Dimity Hawkins from ICAN (nuclear abolition)
- Nic Maclellan (policing the Pacific).
Community submissions to the White Paper were treated dismissively by the Defence Department, but your participation will be welcomed here!
- When: Thursday 11 June, 6.00-7.30pm
- Where: Level 2 of the Alan Gilbert Building, Cnr Barry and Grattan St, Carlton.
