Farewell for Dr Hadia Mukhtar
Active MAPW member Dr Hadia Mukhtar is moving to Sydney. MAPW Victoria is hosting a farewell dinner for Hadia on Tuesday 22 April.
Hadia has been an enthusiastic and active Victorian branch member, across the board from fundraising to policy and campaigning, and plans to continue her involvement in NSW.
In particular Hadia’s 2007 report on Lebanon’s cluster bomb catastrophe (with Sue Wareham and Phillip Salem) has allowed MAPW to make an effective and significant contribution to the current movement to ban these terrible weapons. On the night, our colleague Mark Zirnzac from the Uniting Church will briefly update you on the international campaign to ban cluster bombs, and the need to lobby our government to take a position supporting the proposed ban without exceptions.
All Victorian members are most welcome. Please feel free to invite others who have worked closely with Hadia.
