International Day of Peace 2017

You are invited to observe this year’s International Day of Peace at

Marrickville Peace Park on SATURDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER.

Since 2001 the United Nations has designated 21st September as the International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”). This day is devoted to “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.”

To maximise the opportunity for people to observe these ideals, a Peace Day event

will be held at the Marrickville Peace Park on 16th September.

This year’s theme of “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All” aims to promote diversity, non-discrimination and acceptance of refugees and migrants. Also we will be highlighting the UN’s adoption of the Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty.

Contributions from participants on building a Culture of Peace are welcome.

WHEN: Saturday 16th September 2017 – 10.30am to 11.30am

WHERE: Richardson’s Lookout – Marrickville Peace Park – adjacent to the corner of Holt Crescent and Richards Avenue in South Marrickville

Event organised by Gallipoli Centenary Peace Campaign (GCPC).  Inquiries: John (02) 9559 3406 or Jon 0418 864 907.
