As a GP, Jason has a strong belief in preventative medicine and primary health care. He sees war as the ultimate health risk to be prevented: especially nuclear war, which he identifies as the greatest threat to the future of humankind.
"Having had some experience of the costs of war during a stint in the army in the Vietnam era, I joined MAPW in the early 1980s after the birth of my children. Wanting to do something actively to ensure a better future for them, I joined after hearing Prof Maddocks speak to a medical meeting describing the effects of a nuclear explosion over a city and the ineffectiveness of any medical response."
"Sustainability has always been an integral part of my beliefs, in all its forms, and energy issues have been a special part of this. We hand-built an energy efficient home in the 1970s. Our current 8-star family home is the culmination of many years of commitment. I am strongly against the current misguided push for nuclear power with its strong links to the nuclear weapons industry."
