Background

Dr Mitchell joined MAPW as a first-year medical student. After attending the IPPNWi's 2004 Beijing Congress, she joined the Nuclear Weapons Inheritance Project, which educates students in nuclear weapon states about the medical effects of nuclear weapons by asking: "How do you feel about inheriting your country's nuclear weapons?"  She represented MAPW at the AMSA Developing World Conference in 2005 and the Students of Sustainability Conference in 2006 and was elected as one of two IPPNW International Student Representatives.
