Between 1945 and 2006 there were over 2,050 nuclear tests conducted around the world. more...

Many of these were in our region. 

British nuclear tests were conducted in Australia at Emu Field, Maralinga and the Montebello Islands; and at Christmas Island, in Kiribati. Read more on the legacy of British nuclear testing.

The French tested extensively in Moruroa and Fangataufa in the Pacific up until 1995.

The US tested their nuclear weapons on a number of Pacific islands including Enewetak Atoll, Bikini Atoll, Christmas Island and Johnson Island.

There are far-reaching impacts from this nuclear testing, both to the health of the people of these nations and to the environment.
