The proliferation of weapons is one of the greatest threats to peace today.
The global weapons industry profits from war and insecurity, and is associated with corruption and human rights violations.
The Australian government has committed to making Australia a 'top ten' arms exporter, investing billions of dollars to grow a domestic arms industry.
Our research shows major weapons companies seek to build positive brand recognition amongst Australian primary and secondary students, and attract the 'best and brightest’ young people into careers in the arms industry through interference in STEM education.
The intrusion of weapons companies into children's lives is a moral and social issue that undermines educational values, promotes militarism, and inures children to war and the human cost of the development, trade, and use of weapons.

TAKE ACTION
Join the boycott of the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF). NYSF is Australia's premier science event for young people - but its major partner is global weapons giant Lockheed Martin.
Visit our partner Teachers for Peace to send a message to the NYSF: companies that profit from war have no place in education.

MAJOR AUSTRALIAN CHARITY ENDS PARTNERSHIP WITH BAE SYSTEMS
December 2020
The Smith Family has ended its sponsorship deal with BAE Systems after advocacy from MAPW.
MAPW first raised concerns about the partnership with the Smith Family CEO, providing evidence for BAE's complicity with violence, instability and "incalculable suffering for children", particularly in Yemen.
Despite the evidence, Smith Family defended the financial relationship.
Contacted by The Guardian newspaper for comment on the issue, the Smith Family reversed its position and announced the arrangement had ended. Both the Smith Family and BAE have removed all references to the partnerships from their websites.
